Check before you buy
Thermostats are not universally interchangeable.
Compatibility depends on the equipment type, voltage, wiring, and supported heating and cooling stages. Heat pumps need appropriate control support. Some communicating systems use a manufacturer-specific control rather than a conventional thermostat.
Many connected controls need continuous power through a C-wire or an approved alternative. Whether that is needed—and whether an adapter is suitable—depends on the selected product and existing system.
